Mega Yacht Allegedly collides with Tanker off the coast of the Bahamas
A 160-foot tanker owned by Maritime Management was allegedly struck by superyacht, Utopia IV, on Christmas Eve in 2021 off Providence, Bahamas. Tropic Breeze, the Tanker’s name, was traveling to Great Stirrup Cay when it was allegedly rear-ended by the 207-foot superyacht.
According to Maritime Management, the collision was so severe that the Tanker’s stern sank to the ocean floor at an estimated depth of 2,000 feet. Maritime Management indicated that the Tanker could not be safely salvaged.
According to several reports, crew members of the Tanker were safely evacuated. The Bahamian Ministry of Transport and Housing is presently investigating the collision.
Barbados will have Snap election on January 19, 2022
Just weeks after Barbados became a republic, the country’s Prime Minister Mia Mottley called a snap general election for January 19, 2022. The snap election will occur more than one year before it’s constitutionally due.
The newly formed republic’s Nomination Day for this election will be on January 3, 2022. This election comes three years and eight months into the Barbados Labour Party term.
Since the election will occur during the pandemic, Mottley says some modifications will have to be made.
COVID 19 continues to ravage Trinidad and Tobago
More than 600 people on the island nation of Trinidad and Tobago have died from the Covid-19 virus during the month of December 2021.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Health indicated that nearly 3,000 people have died from the virus since the inception of the pandemic.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley, asked that his country thinks of those who have lost loved ones to the Covid-19 virus. He said that “even as we do this, let us spare a moment of reflection to remember all those families and communities who have experienced the loss of loved ones along the way and for whom the pandemic is more than the daily news, but the source of the pain that they would continue to suffer.”
Betty White, TV Legend dies at age 99
Betty White, a notable actress who starred in TV shows such as “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Golden Girls,” died on Friday at her home in Los Angeles. She was 99. Her death comes less than three weeks before her 100th birthday.
Ms. White won countless awards, including five Primetime Emmys and one competitive Daytime Emmy — and a lifetime achievement Daytime Emmy in 2015 and a Los Angeles regional Emmy in 1952. Her career spanned seven decades.
