On Saturday, January 15, 2022, an underwater volcano erupted near the island nation of Tonga. This volcanic eruption caused tsunami warnings to be issued across the South Pacific and the West Coast of the United States.    The volcano, Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha’apai, is located about 40 miles north of Tonga’s most populated island. Hurricane Elsa is Barbados’ first Hurricane in more than 60 years

  Barbados experienced its first hurricane in more than 60 years. Hurricane Elsa, which impacted Barbados as a category 1 hurricane, caused roofs to be blown off and trees to collapse. Some areas of the island experienced power and water outages. Hurricane Elsa has also impacted the islands of Grenada and Hispaniola.  The storm is expected to impact Cuba, Jamaica, and Florida.
