Discussion: Why does this Continue to Happen?

Hello Friends,

It has been a while since I last posted, however, I have been truly troubled by what has been occurring in the world, primarily the United States.  By now many of you may have seen the video of George Floyd, an African American man pleading with a White police officer to take his knee (the police officers knee) off of his neck while other officers held him down.

Mr. Floyd eventually died as a result of the actions by these police officers.  As of this moment, one officer, Derek Chauvin, has been charged charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter as of result of causing Mr, Floyds death.

There have been far too many cases of racism against people of color in America.  Just this year (2020), at least reported nationally, there have  been other report cases of killings of Black Americans with potentially racial undertones.  These include the murder of Ahmaud Arbery (a young Black man killed by two White men in Georgia, USA) and the killing of Breonna Taylor (who was killed in her own home after the police barged into her home searching for a suspect that was already in custody).  How many times are we going to hear the same case of Black Americans being killed just because they are Black? When will this stop?

As a woman of color, I worry for my family, friends, and future generations. I want to know your thoughts as to why you believe this continues to happen in America and possible solutions to the racism problem.

These incidents of racism discrimination and violence against individuals of color are quite alarming. I agree with the peaceful protests. However, in order to effectuate change, individuals of color must band together to increase voter registration and must vote in local, state, and national elections . Additionally., people of color must also run in local state, and national elections.
